woobie

well i am alone, at work, with nothing to do. *sigh* ... this will not *completely* be a "complaining" entry ( as per usual ) but i will say this: my cold has progressed to a full-on head and chest cold. *sniffle* and i am bored, i have to wait four hours for some videos to render before working on them ( fat chance! i'll be home by then! bwat! ) and there's been constant hammering all day on the rear wall of my office for the entire day.

/ end complaint.

in other news, rocketbride should be popping out a baby any moment now. her due date was on the 28th, and if you are a sharp tack you would realize that was almost an entire week ago. i heard ( on the show friends of all places, as well as from some other 'net sources ) that sexual activity ( an orgasm! wheee! ) can stimulate labour ... and i'm excited for this baby to come, so i think i'm going to sneak into their bedroom late at night with a barry white cd and some candles and a little cham-pan-ya and try to get those soon-to-be parents in the mood! Woo!

also, i bought a book on knitting the other day, after being inspired by the oh-so-cute knitting creations of one pink haired girl. it's called Stitch n' Bitch by Debbie Stoller and it just about RULES. there are patterns in there for awesome sweaters, handbags, hats, mits and scarves, as well as fun ones, like a cel phone cozy ( awww! ) and a DOGGIE SWEATER. i am so excited i could just about pee. what i really want to do, though, is become the queen of socks. i want to knit and knit and knit socks all day and night. i am just about wiggly with excitement ov er the prospect of having the coolest socks ever, and all of my friends also having the coolest socks ever, all hand-made by me me me!

i am still working myself up to "sock level" ... i had to re-aquaint myself with purling ... i knew how to do it a long time ago ... my grandmother showed me, but i had since forgotten. i am still a little slow and rusty at it, but i'm getting better. i did learn however that knitting while drunk produces unsavoury results. i don't recommend it.

before i start on my sock empire, though, i have some lovely soft ivory coloured yarn that one of my co-workers gave me, and lots of it, so i am thinking i might take a hack at the baby blanket pattern in the book ( after all, it is just a square, right ...? how hard could it be ...??? ) and try to knit up a little blanket for rocketbrides' up-and-coming sprout. i have fantasies that this blanket will be dragged around for years, become blackened with use, and be one day elevated to "woobie" status. i want to be the maker of the woobie! i want to be AUNTIE WOOBIE!!!!

um.

sorry.

i'll calm down, now.

perhaps the most FAMOUS woobie!
