burnt by the sun

This past weekend, Spike, Corona, Scabby and I hopped into a rental car and headed to London for the Bachelor/Bachelorette party of the century of our friend J and K ... The party was better than I had expected it to be, the bride and groom opting to have a "Family Friendly" pair of evenings, with the guys heading to a local pub and the girls heading out for a dinner at Kelsey's. The dinner ... well ... kind of sucked, 'cause I got stuck at the end of the table with the moms, who think I am a freak and therefore don't deem me worthy to speak to, but by the time we'd arrived back at the house, and the father of the groom stumbled in drunk [ and attempting to go to the washroom, but actually ending going through the door to the basement ] I had a feeling things were going to pick up.

And they did ... a lot of good old and new friends of ours were there, drinking and being merry. Aside from a drunken jerk trying to grind with me [ i was completely oblivious to this, and had to be told about it afterward by a group of friends who wanted to "kick his ass" for me ... ha ha ... ] and getting my ass slapped by this guy, who was a complete stranger and engaged to the maid of honour, the night was excellent. I drank too much Vodka and Cranberry and paid for it the next day. Pepto Bismol, Advil, and Hair of the Dog took care of that quite nicely.

So here I sit now, lobster-armed. Yah yah yah I am fully aware of the dangers of the sun, doo dee doo, but yesterday it felt so nice to just sit in a lawn chair with my feet up, a beer in my hand just completely relaxing. Corona and Scabby were beet red by three o' clock, wheras I gazed down at my fishbelly arms and legs and they were still blinding white, so while they fetched the sunscreen, I continued to bask in the sun. Boy, am I paying for that now ... apparently whereas their burns turned up instantaneous, mine decided to cook in a bit, and now my arms are completely purple with burns, which even though I am wearing a long-sleeved sweater are extending down -- embarassingly -- onto my hands. Everyone in the office is "tsk tsk"ing me. I know better, it just felt so nice to be out there in the garden relaxing. My first real taste of summer.

While I was in London, I foolishly gave into peer pressure and headed on a mall crawl with everyone, spending WAY too much money, and rendering myself completely broke for the next couple of weeks. Oh well. At least I have a nice new dress and a pair of capri jeans to show for it.

I'll look great doing nothing until I get paid again. My long weekend is going to be fun, fun, fun.

Not.
